The Executive Board of Directors


President -  Joe Bagierek


Joe Bagierek is a 2003 and 2007 Graduate of the University of Miami. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business & Entertainment Industries (2003) from the Frost School of Music as well as Master of Business Administration degree from the School of Business (2007). Joe was a 4 year member of the Band of the Hour in which he marched in the drum-line and played drums in both women's and men's basketball bands. He has held offices of Band Captain an Executive Officer during his tenure with the band. Joe has served multiple roles with the Band of the Hour Association, including Student Representative, Treasurer, Webmaster, Vice President, and now assumes the role of President of the organization. He has served on the Alumni Council for the University of Miami and is a member of the School of Business Mentor program. Joe is a member of Tau Beta Sigma and served as both President and Vice President of TBS during his undergraduate career. Joe was honored as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Motor Board during his undergraduate career at the University of Miami.

 Vice President - Bonnie Hinck-Baldatti


 Bonnie Hinck-Baldatti served as a V.P. from 2005-2007 and as the President from 2007-2009 and served as a member since 2003. She also served on the Alumni Council from from 2006-2009. Bonnie played in the Band of the Hour from 1975-1977 and received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 1978. She is on the Board of Directors with the Greater Miami Symphonic Band and has been a member playing her French Horn for over 25 years. Presently Bonnie is teaching at Bel-Aire Elementary as a Music Teacher and a Drum Line Instructor. During her tenure as a Music Teacher she has been selected as a Teacher of the Year in 2006 and in 2011. Presently, Bonnie is still serving on the Executive Board as the current V.P. and Membership and Hall of Fame Chairs. She also is willing to assist with our web page and Alumni Avenue; what ever is needed.

Treasurer - Gary Heath 


Gary Heath has served on BOTHA’s board since 2007 and is its current Treasurer. Both parents were prominent music educators, fostering a love of music. He studied euphonium at Purdue University and Virginia Tech under his father, Roger Heath, and was a founding member of Kappa Kappa Psi’s chapter at VT. He continued his studies under Connie Weldon and John Olah while a Music Engineering major at UM from 1977-1980. He was a Band of the Hour member during those four years, became a member of Phi Mu Alpha, and played and sang in several ensembles. To maintain variety he has since performed four times with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Florida, played for 14 years in the Edelweiss German-American Band, and sang for 10 years in The Rooftop Jingles holiday quartets, among other organizations. A member of the Greater Miami Symphonic Band since 2001 and its Music Librarian, he is a specialist in the Systems Department of the University of Miami Richter Library.

Secretary - Rachel Hanusa

  

Rachel Hanusa has served on the Board of Directors since 2010 and is currently the Recording Secretary. She began working with BOTHA as the Student Representative from 2009-2010. She is also involved with both the Homecoming Committee and the Fillmore Band Competition Committee. In addition to working with BOTHA, she is the Assistant Director of Admission & Recruitment at the Frost School of Music. Rachel graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music in Music Business and has worked for Frost since 2010.  She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music Education and Higher Education Administration. While not working for admissions, she spends time recruiting for the Band of the Hour and assisting the band on game days as a member of the Hurricane Flags.  Rachel was a member of the Band of Hour from 2005-2009 (trumpet) and President of Tau Beta Sigma in 2009. 

Associate Director of Bands; Director "Band of the Hour" - Dr. Thomas Keck 

 

Thomas Keck is associate director of bands at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. In this capacity he conducts the Symphonic Winds, directs the Band of the Hour, and teaches courses in conducting and music education. He is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from Arizona State University and has earned music education degrees from the University of Illinois and the University of Iowa. Keck served as assistant director of bands at the University of Georgia and the University of New Hampshire. During 2007-08, he served as Interim Director of the Redcoat Band. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi, and a friend of the arts in Sigma Alpha Iota. As a percussionist, Keck has performed with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, I-PAN Steel Groove, and numerous symphonic and improvisatory ensembles.

Historian - Helen Tallman Braithwaite 

Band of the Hour Association
Helen Tallman Braithwaite is a director and former president of the Band of the Hour Association and currently serving as BOTHA's Historian. She has been a member of the board since its inception in 1993. Helen holds a BS from SUNY, a masters in Education from the University of Miami, and a Master of Library and Information Services from Florida State University. Helen is an member of Iron Arrow, Tau Beta Sigma, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She is a former president of the Hurricane Club, a former University of Miami Alumni Association President, served three years on the UM Board of Trustees and currently a member of the Alumni Association Board. Helen was awarded official Band of the Hour member status in 1999.  Helen is the President and CEO of Bratal and Associates.

Past President - Randy Cash

 

Randy Cash is the Past President of the Band of the Hour Association of Alumni and Friends. He is a 1981 graduate of UM with a degree in Politics and Public Affairs. Randy has also supported the university as Vice President of the Orlando Area Alumni Club and is the Immediate Past President of the Southwest Florida Alumni Club and served on the UM Alumni Association Council in 2007 and 2008.  After playing trombone in the 1979 band, Randy was the Drum Major of the 1980 edition of the Band of the Hour.  He is a retired Army Officer having served in Desert Storm, Operation Provide Comfort in Northern Iraq, and commanded an assault helicopter company during Operation Restore Hope in Somalia.  Prior to attending UM he played trombone in the United States Army Band Europe stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.  Randy is currently the owner and President of Flamingo Air Management Incorporated based in Naples, Florida.  He is a member of TBS and Iron Arrow.
