Pedro Basnueva was inducted into the Band of the Hour Hall of Fame during Homecoming week. Pedro first joined the band in the Fall of 1980. He was an integral member of the drumline for 5 seasons and served as Band Captain in 1983 and 1984. Pedro is a beloved member of Tau Beta Sigma and Phi Mu Alpha.
Since his time in the UM band, Pedro has gone on to contribute in an incredibly positive way with a lengthy career in the Miami Dade Public Schools. He has been a special needs instructor, coach of many different sports, and an Assistant Athletic Director at various schools. He has also been a Music Minister for two different churches over the course of the last 25 years.
To support the University of Miami "Band of the Hour,” with the help of alumni and friends, through advancement, service, and a commitment to the traditions of the University of Miami.
The club initiated the publication of a newsletter to keep friends and alumni up to date with the happenings of the Band of the Hour.
As the association grew into the new millennium, it changed its name from the "Band of the Hour Club" to the "Band of the Hour Association of Alumni and Friends", Inc.

The Band of the Hour Association is an affiliate group of the University of Miami Alumni Association. It is a separate entity from the University of Miami and is comprised of volunteers who give their time and effort to fundraise and support the University of Miami and the Band of the Hour in collaboration with the University, the UMAA, and its respective policies.
