August (Augie) Silva  earned both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music from the University of Miami. He and his wife Donna have five children. While at the University he performed in the Band of Hour for four years playing alto saxophone and clarinet. He served as section leader and was a member Phi Mu Alpha. He received his BM in 1964 and MM in 1973.

Rick Veingrad

Past President
Rick Veingrad attended the University of Miami from 1977 to 1981, graduating with a BBA in Marketing and a Minor in Music Merchandising. He played the trumpet during those years and was the band photographer the last two. Rick met his wife Sharon (MBA, BBA) at a UM Alumni event.  In 1984, he established a chain of video stores in the Fort Lauderdale area lasting some 25 years. Today, his company distributes DVD's around the country.

B.M. ’84, Jazz Performance & Music Education
Jay Rees is professor of music and director of athletic bands at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. His responsibilities include leading the Frost Band of the Hour, the marching and pep bands of the University of Miami, at UM sporting events such as nationally televised Miami Hurricanes football and basketball games, and expanding the band’s reach and reputation throughout the region.

Douglas McCullough

Douglas L. McCullough is Assistant Director of Athletic Bands and Director of Marching Percussion at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Additionally Douglas is the Director of Marching Percussion.

The homecoming committee organizes all the activities that are traditions of BOTHA during the annual University of Miami Alumni Homecoming Weekend that includes Induction of the new class of Hall of Fame, Alumni participation in the Parade, Pep Rally and Boat Burning and Alumni band at the homecoming game.

Hall of Fame Committee Chair

Hall of Fame was created to honor outstanding contribution to the University of Miami Band of the Hour. The inaugural Class of 1994 jump started a great tradition at the University of Miami. Members of the Hall include Miami Fight song composer's, a U.S Congressman, a current Trustee of the University, and former band members. This distinct group of people stand for the tradition and history of the Band of the Hour.
